Gilt Bronze, signed
Pilet was known for his beautifully detailed sculptures in bronze of allegorical, historical and classical figures, as well as busts of his contemporaries. He studied with A. Toussaint in Paris and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1861-1914 where he garnered numerous awards. Pilet was also a noted sculptor of medallions.
