Exceptional Classical Gilded Wood and Gesso Convex Mirror, having wonderful, sculptural, scrolling, vine decoration. American or English, circa 1820-1830. Convex, round mirrors in the early 19th century evolved from the Renaissance tradition and french prototypes of the 18th century. Important Antique English Gilt Wood and Composition Girandole Mirror, the oval mirror plate within a leaf carved surround and within mirrored borders with crossed vine-form decoration. The cresting and pendant formed with scrolling leaf and paterae and the pendant with three vine and floral decorated candlearms. Early 19th century.
