Fine quality expanding bookrack in olivewood inlaid with king-wood, ebony and boxwood with openwork scrolling decoration and four oval wood mosaic scenes of figures in traditional costume. One mosaic contains the location "Canterets" which is located in the French Pyrenees.
This wonderful carved oak panel originally hung in "The Jockey Club" in Washington, DC, and depicts not only a fox hunt but numerous other vignettes typical of English country life of the early 19th century. It may have been carved as a panel in a chest or as part of the wall panelling for a room.
